Today we are going through one of the most exciting times for our company. We are growing fast and as a result, we are expanding our Athens automation team and looking for an ambitious and tech-savvy Field Automation Engineer.


Impact of the Role


As part of the Vimachem team, you will play a key role in installing and supporting automation systems in production and packaging industrial environments. You will collaborate with our engineering and continuous improvement teams to develop methods to improve and maintain the reliability of plant engineering systems, and implement automation-related projects for our industrial customers in Greece and Europe.

What will you do as a Field Automation Engineer?


  • Design and implementation of diverse solutions for industrial clients.
  • Create electrical drawings to facilitate the understanding of procedures for the client.
  • Install the Vimachem IIoT Edge device in the manufacturing facilities of Vimachem’s clients.
  • Participate in technical meetings with the clients’ maintenance and automation teams to discuss the solution and functionalities issues.
  • Perform system requirements analysis and hardware design.
  • Develop technical documentation for the Vimachem solutions, such as manuals for electrical drawings, SOPs, etc.
  • Professionally represent the company, gather data, and ask the right questions to define a project.
  • Conduct on-site inspection visits at the clients’ location to finalize the installation solution.
  • Perform configuration and programming of the edge device, along with signal testing and reconciliation procedures.
  • Manage inventory, including stock of edge devices and HMIs.
  • Facilitate procurement activities for equipment related to the technical department of the company and directing and managing vendors.
  • Offer new solutions to the customer, such as camera vision systems, rejection points, and the installation of new sensors.
  • Take part in troubleshooting with the support team, open tickets and help them understand the installation steps you followed.



The main qualifications for this Field Automation Engineer role are: 


  • TEI or AEI degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 2+ years of applied professional experience in electrical process control, instrumentation, automation and computer and data communication systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting electrical drawings is essential.
  • Previous hands-on experience with troubleshooting and commissioning machines is a must.
  • Thorough understanding of automation principles and familiarity with PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully manage internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel to Vimachem’s clients, primarily located in Europe and Greece.
  • Proven expertise in constructing electrical cabinets and devising solutions using EPlan is a plus.
  • Previous experience in documentation and process creation is a plus.


Desirable Knowledge:

  • Experience in electrical panels, troubleshooting & commissioning packaging machines, as well as wiring rules knowledge.
  • Experience in the manufacturing environment, preferably in the Pharmaceutical or Food & Beverage industries.
  • Knowledge of device network configuration is a plus.
